QSMP

What is the QSMP?
The QSMP was a multilingual whitelist-only Minecraft server run by Quackity and Quackity Studios. It was heavily modded, most notably with a custom real time translation mod that integrated with the in-game proximity voice chat mod.
The QSMP ran the 1.20.1 version of Minecraft, Forge 47.2.18.[1]
Pre-server history
On March 10, 2023, QuackityTwo on YouTube posted the video "Welcome to the QSMP," a short video in which Quackity and ElQuackity (his Spanish-speaking counterpart) talked with one another. A video of Mr. Duck played warning them to not talk to each other. At the end of the video Quackity in collaboration with Quackity Studios announced the QSMP as "the world's first ever bilingual Minecraft survival multiplayer server".[2]
Server debut
The QSMP officially opened on March 22, 2023 with English and Spanish speaking content creators.[3] At this point the translation mod had not been revealed or implemented. This first day also introduced two concepts that would go on to be central mechanics in the server: pre-recorded cinematics played directly in the server that conveyed information to the creators and the audience and NPCs that were not played by content creators but rather anonymous admins who would interact with the creators.[4][5]
Major server updates
Addition of Translation Mod and the Eggs
On April 3, 2023 (Day 13) the players were introduced to a live translation mod which would allow them to communicate in real time without using external translation tools and which that integrated with the in-game proximity voice chat mod.
The eggs made their first appearance on the same day during the Egg Adoption Event. Islanders were summoned to the Adoption Center and randomly assigned a partner to adopt an egg with. Eight eggs were introduced at this time: Bobby, Chayanne, Dapper, JuanaFlippa, Leonarda, Ramón, Tilín, and Trump.[6] They quickly became an integral and iconic part of the QSMP. As more creators joined the project more eggs were added as well, usually played by admins that spoke the same language(s) as the new creators. (See Eggs for more.)
Addition of new languages
Though the QSMP started with only Spanish and English speaking creators, it expanded to include Brazilian Portuguese, French, Korean, and German speakers.
Brazilian creators Cellbit, Felps, Forever, Pac, and Mike were added on April 30, 2023.[7] Bagi, another Brazilian creator, was added later on September 16, 2023.[8]
French creators Baghera, Antoine Daniel, Aypierre, Etoiles, and Kameto joined May 16, 2023.[9]
The first Korean creator, 악어 (ACAU), joined on February 11, 2024.[10] Korean creators 중력 (Jungryeok), 양띵 (YD), and 콩콩 (KongKong) were added in the following weeks.
The first German speaking creator, Nihachu, was added August 28, 2023.[11] LetsHugo, the first German-only creator, joined March 16, 2024.[12]
QSMP 2024
"QSMP 2024" was a server restart which marked the beginning of the new year in QSMP's life, as well as addition of a new client, new mods and new features. (See QSMP 2024 Launch for more.)

- QSMP was a subject in an article in Le Monde, one of the biggest newspapers in the French-speaking world, for its treatment of its volunteers.[13]
